Piece for Tidlrs | The Versace Mansion, Miami

You’ve no doubt heard of the Versace Mansion? This former home of Gianni Versace boasts a swimming pool lined in 24-karat gold mosaic tiles, décor inspired by Greek and Roman mythology. And it’s now a plush boutique hotel called The Villa Casa Casuarina. It’s also one of the most exclusive places to stay in Miami Beach.

For that reason, the Villa Casa Casuarina was the perfect property for me to write about for Tidlrs, one of the luxury titles I contribute to. And like the Villa Casa Casuarina, it is very much geared towards the discerning traveller.

During my visit to South Beach, Miami, I explored the famed Ocean Drive and took part in a walking tour with Art Deco Tours, which gave me the opportunity to research this property and hear about its fascinating story.

In this piece, I share the architectural history of the Versace mansion, the level of exuberance you encounter when you stay here and the many luxurious features that make this such a unique place to stay in Miami. Think mosaics and interiors inspired by Roman and Greek mythology, gold-plated fixtures and murals of Ottoman sultans in the guest rooms.

Twenty years on, interest in the Villa Casa Casuarina has been renewed, following the release of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. And during the filming of the series, film crew spent a month here, so it’s definitely a talking point in travel at the moment.

Alongside Tidlrs, I have contributed to luxury magazines such as Hedge, Square Mile, Atlas by Etihad and Upward Curve.  If you would like to get in touch regarding any luxury travel writing, please email Lucy_McGuire@hotmail.co.uk.
