Did you read the recent post on Flying TAP Portugal from Heathrow to Fortaleza in Brazil? If you did, you will know that this journey began with a luxury travel experience in the Plaza Premium Lounge, the sleek new airport lounge in Heathrow Terminal 2A – The Queen’s Terminal.
I have been to a few airport lounges (mostly the airline branded ones) but this one is rather lovely as it carries a very international feel. The aesthetic is very contemporary with an undeniable Eastern flair. So it comes as no surprise to hear that it was Hong Kong designer Kinney Chan of KCA Associates who designed this luxe space.
Inside the Plaza Premium Lounge, you’ll find plenty of glossy lifestyle magazines, a self-service buffet of croissants, fresh fruit and other breakfast items (if you’re here in the morning as we were) and a Champagne and Tapas Bar if you’re here at night.
If you’re like most travel writers and bloggers, you’ll want to stay connected – especially when you’re about to ‘switch off’ for an eight hour flight. So you’ll be pleased to hear that this airport lounge has a recharging station for your devices, free Wi-Fi and flat screen TVs on the walls so you can get your fill of UK news before you leave home soil.
If you really want to use this place to its full potential, the Plaza Premium Lounge has shower facilities and you can book in for a massage at the Wellness Spa (They use ILA products). You can even book into a suite and catch up on some z’s. How’s that for feeling fully refreshed before your flight? This has certainly changed the way I like to fly.
Until next time x
