If you’re visiting the National Wedding Show, here’s my quick guide to making the most of your visit:
Go early – Fridays are the best days to go as it’s less busy than the weekend. But if you’re visiting on Saturday and Sunday, arrive as early as possible. It will give you the chance to suss out where everything is, try on some dresses before the queues start forming and make the most of your day.
Leave your coats and extra bags in the cloakroom – Believe me, you’ll be picking up A LOT of magazines, flyers and goody bags so leave your coat here and anything else that could weigh you down.
Pick up your Show Guide – this is your bible for the day and lists all the exhibitors for the day with a map of where to find them, plus plenty of news and inspiration for your wedding.
Pick your fashion show – The fashion shows run at regular intervals throughout the day and alternate with expert talks by Bridal Coach Michele Paradise. Pick up your Show Guide to get the specific times and arrive at least 10 minutes before your show of choice to get the best seats. Shows on Saturday run every 30 minutes until 2pm, with a final show at 4pm. On Sunday, they run at 10.30, 11.00, 11.50, 12.20, 13.10, 13.50 and 15.45.
Pick your session at the Wedding Theatre – This is on the first floor and where you’ll find live shows and talks discussing everything from how to perfect your wedding make-up to the latest hair trends and outfits for the mother of the bride. Once you’ve picked up your Show Guide, check out the sessions of the day so you don’t miss anything.
Do take part in competitions – There are competitions everywhere so take a couple of minutes to fill in your details and post your entry on various stands. you could win the honeymoon or wedding of your dreams!
Go wedding dress shopping first – It’s pretty exhausting going to any fair of this size so it’s easy to get tired and impatient at the end of the day. So standing in a long queue to try on wedding dresses is not going to be fun. Plus you won’t feel at your best after 5 hours on your feet. Why not make a beeline for the wedding dress stands first. You won’t mind queuing so much and you’ll be feeling fresh as a daisy. And you’ll get a better pick of dresses…
Take regular breaks – There are pop-up cafes on both floors so take a pit stop every few hours. The National Wedding Show is exhausting work!
Do talk to exhibitors – This is your chance to talk to expert travel companies, make-up artists, photographers and wedding planners. Many carry discounts for anyone who books through the National Wedding Show so if you’re serious about your wedding planning, this could be your chance to be decisive and get a good deal.
Enjoy some champers – It adds something something to your day and gives you reason to celebrate. You’re getting married after all!
Leave early – The show ends at 5pm (cloakroom closes at 4.30pm) so leave early to beat the rush. You’ll be thankful when you avoid the cloakroom queues and manage to get a seat on the train.
Get a picture by the LOVE sign before you go… well, why not?
