The thing about photography in the Caribbean is it’s so easy to take a good picture. It’s like someone’s turned up the ‘colour’ switch. The saturation has gone up a notch. Everything’s brighter, bolder and more beautiful. And the same goes for its incredible and captivating sunsets, as I experienced when I was in St Lucia.
One of the best parts of this trip was our ocean view room. With automatic front-row seats to the sparkling Caribbean Sea, we didn’t even need to step outside to see the ever-changing skies in all their glory.
I’ve had many ‘sunset memories’ – one being the awesome vistas we witnessed onboard the Silverwind cruise ship across the Med. But as you will see from these pictures, the sunsets across the West Indies really are something else.
From the cloud formations to the depth of the sun’s crimson red colour, every night was slightly different. One night we’d catch the silhouette of a cruise ship on the horizon. The next we’d see tiny fishing boats sailing by or a flock of birds drifting across the horizon. Another night we were driving through Castries and were met with the most awesome glow. But each night was so spectacular, it became one of my favourite parts of the day – just sitting back, gazing out to sea and enjoying the beauty of this incredible paradise island…
