The Caribbean is one of my favourite travel destinations. I got engaged in St Lucia, married in Jamaica and continue to sell travel writing on this gorgeous part of the world to various travel publications and websites. So after returning from my wedding and honeymoon in Jamaica, I wrote this piece for About Time magazine on the wonderful Jakes Hotel.
Jakes Hotel is a boutique hotel on the south coast of Jamaica, in a rural enclave known as Treasure Beach. It’s the home of community tourism, has a slower-than-slow pace of life and is where you can truly switch off, enjoy walks along the beach and feel miles away from the overly-touristy parts of the island.
The piece on About Time magazine tells you about the Gaudi-inspired architecture of Jakes Hotel, the family story behind it and what you can expect when you’re there. You might also like to check out this piece I wrote here on The Travel Journo: 20 Reasons to stay at Jakes Hotel, Treasure Beach.
