Brides looking for a luxury wedding in a ‘secret garden’ style outdoor setting will absolutely adore what I am about to show you.
The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa – probably the most famous hotel in the city of Bath – is about to unveil its new wedding garden this Spring. And let me tell you, it’s absolutely stunning.
When you first arrive at The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa, it’s not immediately obvious that there are gardens at the back. But during my recent visit to this historic hotel, I received a private tour, which unveiled an outdoor space of perfectly manicured lawns and meandering paths. In the far right hand corner, you will find the discreetly located Walled Garden, aka The Wedding Garden, which is being transformed into a beautiful luxury wedding venue.
Open the gate and you step into this fabulous outdoor space designed by local architect Nick Shipp and crafted by landscape designer Alison Jenkins. The beautifully restored Garden Villa is located at one end, and the soon-to-be gazebo – where the bride and groom can say their vows – sits at the other. While work was still underway during our visit, the Garden Villa is going to be a gorgeous space for wedding couples and their guests to stay, as it offers the perfect amount of privacy while still enabling you to enjoy the amenities of the hotel.
Booking a luxury wedding in The Wedding Garden also promises to offer the most seamless and relaxing nuptial experience as brides can stay in the Garden Villa the night before their big day. Here, they can enjoy everything from in-room breakfasts and dinner at The Dower House to private wellbeing classes and relaxing pre-wedding trips to the spa. With everything on site, there’s no excuse for being late for your own wedding!
These artists’ impressions give you an idea of how The Wedding Garden and Villa will look when it’s complete. The villa houses two luxury suites and two classic double rooms that are all pet and family friendly.
It was a frosty morning when we visited, but once Spring has sprung and the flowers are in full bloom, this space will be the perfect spot for a quintessentially English wedding. You can just imagine the scene (and the stunning photos) when a bride emerges from the pillared entrance of the Garden Villa.
Alternatively, you can of course stay in one of the guest rooms or suites within the main building of The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa which is equally special. You can read my review of the John Wood Suite here.
The garden will seat wedding parties of up to 60 people and you can then enjoy exclusive use of the full hotel for up to 150 guests. So think summer BBQs in the gardens, a drinks reception in the gorgeous Drawing Room or a formal wedding reception in the Dower House restaurant and bar. There are many ways to enjoy this beautiful Grade I Listed Georgian building.
If you are looking for an alternative spot to get married in the hotel, there are other options which the hotel team can offer couples. We had a peek at The Sheridan Room in the basement which is used for a variety of functions and can serve as a lovely wedding reception area if the weather outside is a bit on the chilly side.
There’s a small but charming terrace outside complete with Georgian steps that the bride can walk down (which would make for fabulous photos).
And don’t you just adore the cut-out hearts in the doors?
There are three tiers of wedding package to choose from – The Signature, The Magnum and The Jeroboam (details below). And with news already out about this beautiful space, I hear that the hotel already has bookings in for 2016.
