The Designer Collection catwalk show at yesterday’s London Bridal Fashion Week had me captivated. The catwalk shows are again taking place today and the high-end luxury wedding collection will be alternated twice daily with the Bridal Collections.
I took a FRow pew, got my camera posed and waited with excited anticipation. While not all of these dresses were to my taste, there was incredible variety and creativity in these designs.
The stunning scoop backs, unique 30s-style fringing and Grecian style scoop-backs particularly caught my eye. And those with a penchant for power skirts, dramatic trains and intricate lace detailing were more than catered for.
I was particularly struck by the ambitious and modern tailoring we saw on the designer catwalk. Think small peplums on the waist, ‘boxy’ and masculine shirt tops and long and natural flowing skirts. There were also dramatic veils, bold colour palettes and some highly creative cut-out backs and necklines.
This was a serious fix of inspiration for me at the start of my own wedding dress shopping experience. Here are some of the highlights…
The beautiful model Emma Holmes
Dramatic design by Rita Westenius
Beautiful embroidery by Arga & Arga…
What a treat for me to experience such an amazing show. As I say, I’m early on in the wedding dress shopping journey, but this was certainly food for thought. Whether you have the budget or not for couture bridal dresses, taking in all the different shapes, details and designs is a great source of inspiration and way to help you get one step further to finding the dress of your dreams. I hope you’ve been inspired!
Until next time x
